See low slope roofing. Typically large footprint single story warehouses and pre engineered metal buildings will utilize low slope metal roof systems. Comes in colors and an opaque color which would allow light into the area below. The roof slope is only 1 12.

Hello our house is being built near the boundary of zone 4 and 5 in illinois with a 1 12 pitch metal roof. From the bottom of the rafters to the deck on the house side is 7 and from the deck to the top of the beam is 6 3 1 2 which gives me just under a 1 12 pitch. Slopes greater than 18 12 are found on a frame roofs and some mansard style. Low slope roofs are not totally flat their roof slope generally ranges from 1 4 12 to 3 12.

My roof over the deck project is coming along slow but moving. I ve done a lot of research on low slope roofs because our builder does not have a lot of experience with flat roofs. The roofer making the complaint said that he bid that job and lost to a lower bidder while thinking that the only suitable materials would include mule hide epdm or high rib steel. If asphalt shingles are to be installed on a low slope roof special steps are required to avoid short roof life and roof leaks.
